FABRIC FORMING (Vastra Nirmaan)

Development of weaving technology and weaving machines from pre-historic times and handlooms are covered in brief. The powerlooms, automatic looms and modern shutteless weaving machines are covered in detail. Information is given on preparation of yarn for weaving, textile weaves of common use in India, characteristic features of various apparel fabric structures, testing methods to ascertain fabric characteristics, cloth faults, their causes and possible remedies to avoid them and few basic calculations for weaving and cloth structures. One chapter each is devoted to 'Nonwovens', 'Warp knitting' and 'Weft knitting'.
